As Vice President of Worldwide Licensing & Interactive for Paramount Pictures, Josh Austin is responsible for extending Paramount’s current theatrical releases, and classic studio properties to a wide range of consumer touchpoints including mobile and video gaming platforms, virtual reality, and all forms of traditional licensed merchandise. Mr. Austin is a leader in the interactive and licensing space, identifying lifestyle trends — in film, TV, sports, toys, fashion, etc. — and then negotiating and overseeing their evolution across game and merchandise platforms.
Since joining Paramount in 2012, he has developed a number of notable and successful interactive products, including mobile and console games based on studio jewels Mission:Impossible, The Godfather, and Mean Girls as well as new VR game/experiences based on horror franchise Paranormal Activity and the new film Ghost in the Shell, among many others.
Prior to joining Paramount, he managed business development and licensing efforts for global game publishers THQ, SEGA and Capcom Entertainment, securing premier properties from Lucasfilm, Disney/Pixar, Warner Bros., Sony Pictures, Sanrio, Mattel, the WWE, MotoGP, NFL, MLB, NBA, Nickelodeon, Marvel, and others for development in the interactive space. He also managed merchandising partnerships for THQ and Capcom’s broad portfolio of renowned original content. Austin holds a bachelor’s degree from University of California, Los Angeles, and resides in Calabasas with his wife and four young children.
